The Brochure: Au pair in France

To apply please send us the following:

- 4 ID photos and several photos of yourself with children you have taken care of
- Fully completed application form in French
- Childcare references (minimum of 2)*
- A medical exam certificate*
- A copy of your vaccination records. Vaccinations for tuberculosis, diptheria, tetanus, polio and hepatitis B are obligatory for non-members of the European Union.*
- A letter adressed to your future host family in France. Include details about yourself - your character, hobbies, experiences, future plans*
- A letter certifying that you have basic French language skills*
- A photocopy of your driver’s licence. You must obtain an international driver’s licence before leaving your home country.
- Application fees (please contact your local agent for details) Placement provided by Butterfly et Papillon International is free of charge

* Must be translated into French

French Courses:

Au-pairs situated near Annecy will take French courses at our local course centre with certified foreign language teachers. Au-pairs staying in other areas will attend the course centre nearest them. Courses cost around 305 euros per trimester for 2 four-hour courses per week. Course prices may vary according to the centre.

Terminating your contract:

If you wish to terminate your au-pair contract early you must give two weeks notice to Butterfly et Papillon except in the following cases: serious illness necessitating repatriation or incompatibility with your family occuring within the one-month trial period, in which case you can be placed with another family.
Attention: If you are not a member of the European Union you can only work in France with au-pair status. Moreover, you may not work as an au-pair for a period of less than 9 months.
